<p>May 2005</p>  <p>Gary Hohenshelt, Consultant, and Impact Directories, helped us get a measurable return on investment of 765% &ndash; $765 for every dollar we spent on advertising in their 2004-2005 directory came back to us in new client revenue! How?</p>  <ol> 	<li>He analyzed our category placement, our competition size and placement, and our past ad efficacy.</li> 	<li>He researched successful ads in our category nationwide and guided us in our design process.</li> 	<li>Because we were reluctant to increase our telephone book advertising costs, but were willing to consider the investment based on his expertise and our need to increase our presence, he set us up with a blind phone number so we could literally track calls.</li> 	<li>We were able to extract new client calls from that list, determine if they became appointments, and how much gross income those folks brought. From that amount, we factored out hard costs, including the advertising dollars.</li> </ol>  <p>The other big phone book charges up to 50% more for the same size ad, and as for the other odd book on the block, we just don&#39;t advertise there at all. <p>Republic Storage has advertised in the Impact Directory for several years with much success. We always ask new tenants how they heard about us, and &quot;yellow pages&quot; ranks at about 90&#37; of our new clients.</p>
<p>To further break that down, we've had our new tenants tell us which phone book they saw our ad in, and when the response is &quot;in that smaller book&quot; we know it was from the Impact Directory. When asked why they use that directory we receive two responses&#58; it's smaller and easier to use, and &quot;I threw the other one away when I got this one&quot;.</p>
<p>That last comment was an eye&ndash;opener for us, and we've continued to question callers and drop&ndash;ins about the use of Impact Directory. In about 50&#37; of the time, we get the answer that they saw us in the &quot;little directory with the pretty cover&quot;.</p>
<p>Because our industry relies mostly on yellow pages advertising, and because Impact has proven its' worth to us, we'll continue to use the book as part of our advertising program.</p>
<p>By the way, Kevin Patterson is great to work with and I've never had a moment's trouble with artwork, placement or any other aspect of our advertising program with Impact.</p>
